Campus Accessibility Committee
CAC Framework - Fall 2016
Mission
The Campus Accessibility Committee (CAC) strives to pro-actively create an inclusive campus environment at Harford Community College (HCC). Members of the committee will take a leadership role in strategically planning to address the needs of increased numbers of students with disabilities and increased use of software, technologies, and online learning. The goal is to provide equal access for persons with disabilities to electronic and information technology (e.g., Internet, email, course supplemental materials, electronic books, search engines, databases, learning management systems, websites, classroom technology and multimedia, and other digital means). The CAC provides a forum in which various members of the College’s constituencies may communicate and collaborate on matters related to universal design, accessibility and inclusivity.
Operations
The CAC will receive from the President’s staff specific charges and suggested timelines for the completion of charges at the beginning of every academic year. The chairs of CAC will advise the President’s staff of the Committee’s progress during the year, including a mid-year update by February 15th and a final report by June 1 of every year. The report will include a summary of the committee’s work from the preceding year, recommendations, outcomes, and suggestions on proceedings for the upcoming academic year. The chairs of the committee will be appointed by the President’s staff at the beginning of each academic year. The chairs will be responsible for arranging meetings (as necessary), moderating meetings, implementing processes for completing charges, and ensuring that CAC maintains consistent communication with the President’s staff and other key constituents.
